put the potty in with the toys, kid sees it as a good thing and playtime extends to using it.

  2. Miss Mime Says:

I had success with making them sit on the potty until they go and just asking them time and time again do they have to go.

  3. Alyssa's mommy Says:

My daughter isn’t potty trained yet, but my friend’s daughter is. Her daughter hated the potty! You would think they were killing her if you heard the sounds coming from the bathroom. She would try once a month, but didn’t pester her about it. One day when she turned 3, she just decided to do it. Ever since then she had no day time accicents. Some kids just do it when ready.

Single mom, potty training a boy. Hell yea, very hard. I tried Cheerios in the toilet, peeing outside on a rock, and depriving my child of liquids after a certain hour, and I even would wake him up in the middle of the night. What worked was PATIENCE. When it stopped being a big deal to me, my baby was less stressed about it and one day just started going at age 30 months. He hasn’t even wet the bed since then, we actually gave pull-ups away to a neighbor.

A friend of mine had three boys. To get them to use the toilet she would toss a handful of Fruit Loops into the bowl and then the boys would “aim” at them. It made potty training fun for them, and also taught them to pee INTO the toilet rather than making that crazy mess that boys sometimes make. They’re 12, 14 and 16 now and all three of them can hit the exact center of the toilet bowl. (No Fruit Loops required!)

When trying to potty train my 3 year old granddaughter, she wanted nothing to do with it. So we made her a chart with the days of the week on it. When she went on the potty, she got a gold star…she realized she was doing something good and of course, we praised her for doing a good job! When she went in her pants, we would take a star away. That is what did the trick for us. The reward method is what we did and it worked…took about 2 weeks too! Hope this helped. Good luck

Tegragg hit it on the head, so to speak. I also let my son pick out his own potty. The only prob then was getting him to sit on the big potty! Sigh….

Their potty was right beside the regular toilet in our bathroom. I would go and sit on the toilet approx once every hour. They wanted to do everything I did so they would sit on their potty just like Mommy was doing. I always turned on the tap so that they would hear the sound of water running. That sound makes you ‘pee’ even if you don’t want to. If they did ‘pee’ I would always say something to encourage them or acknowledge them.

The child has to be able to pull clothing up and down by themselves.
PULL UPS in the daytime-not diapers.
Really does help by modeling the behavior, for example: if a girl-she sees your example, boy watches Dad.
Child must be willing to participate, otherwise you are doing the training and get frustrated.
Find a reward the child really likes. Stickers work great. Make sure the reward is given every time anything is in the potty.
During potty training is a good time to teach them hand washing. We used that as a reward, believe it or not.
    Keep books by the potty.

Well I bought my daughter her potty chair right after her first birthday. Of course she didn’t use it then. I just let her sit on it fully clothed all the time. She thought it was a chair that she could hide stuff in then lol! Then around 18months we started putting her on it a few times a day, and she would use it occassionally on accident and we would make a HUGE deal about it! Then a few days after she turned 21 months she just all of a sudden wanted to use it on her own. She would just be playing quietly, then all of a sudden she would jump up and say “POTTY! POTTY!” and I took her, and she went. I didn’t push her or anything. It just happened naturally on its own. She’s 23months now and she goes almost everytime. I still put pullups on her at night, and when we’re out somewhere (incase we can’t get to the potty in time). Other than that she wears big girl panties all day. Hope I helped! =)

At first i put him on pull ups then tried to teach him to go potty all the time. Couple weeks after that, I bought him underwear and yes he peed and pooped on his underwear for quite a bit. But eventually he got the point coz he ddnt like the fact that he peed on himself and pooped. I also let him go to the potty after he ate and drank something. Also, before he went to bed even now, i still tell him to go potty before he goes to sleep and he’s 4 but doing great so far!! good luck and keep trying..
