Cloth Potty Training Pants on eBay:

Question by Scotty23: Potty training.. Cloth training pants affordable absorbent?????
Ok I have a 2 year old who has the concept of using the potty. But disposable pullups aren’t getting it done. If she wears cloth underwear she uses the potty 80% of the time. If she wears a pull up it’s more like 10%. I’ve tried your basic gerber pants. They aren’t absorbant at all and she absolutely hates the plastic covers. Forget that. I’ve seen some all in one trainers but they are almost + . I need something much cheaper. I can’t go buy a diaper and her refuse to wear it, if it works at all. I’m fine with the disposables at night. And leaks aren’t to bad when we are home. But we go to parent’s and friends house a lot, can’t have her peeing on other people’s carpet. lol So here’s what I’m looking for if any mom could help me out. Absorbent, not too bulky, not too plastic, comfortable, and affordable cloth training pants. AIO conveinence would be nice also. Sounds like I’m asking a lot huh’. Well any help in my search would be appreciated.

Imse Vimse makes great training pants. They’re not cheap — about a pair, but if you only need them for going out (and are willing to put up with messes at home for a while), you don’t need more than 2 or 3 pair. They’re very absorbent and have a waterproof outer layer. (They’re incredibly cute, too, but a little bulky.)
Another option is to pick up a few pair of cheap plastic pants and pull those up over the Gerber training pants. You can usually find them at the same department stores that sell the training pants. (Any other cloth diaper cover will do, too, if you already have some.)
And … Ditch the pull-ups! If a child is ready to potty train, it’s best to just go for it.

Apair of traing pants like http://www.onestoppottyshop.co.uk/bright-bots-training-pants-c-62.html would be good I think. These are in the UK, but sure you could find them where you are :)

I found an extra insert (rather like an incontinence pad) that goes inside a nappy (diaper). they were pretty cheap, and worked under pants. The problem is probably that she knows when she’s wearing a nappy or pull ups that she won’t be wet and uncomfortable, so it’s quicker and easier to just ‘go’. Certainly, if she’s involved in something else, she’s not going to prioritise going to the toilet if she doesn’t HAVE to!!

We have some terry toweling pants with foam padding in them available in supermarkets in Australia (not sure if you have them). I have to admit, I didn’t find them very absorbant, but they may help.

Other than that, it’s just back to the same old advice… patience and time… and carry some club soda or bicarb soda with you to clean up any accidents!

Good luck… she’ll get there in the end!
