Regardless if they are boys or girls they are all unique. I would say a good age to starting potty training a boy is at 2 years. Pull ups are helpful because of course they help prevent accidents, but for some kids they are just like diapers. One of my kids could not stand the wet feeling after peeing in regular underwear and it didn’t take more than two times to get them going on the potty. But, like I said all kids are different. My other kid simply didn’t want to go on the potty. M&M’s and stickers are wonder training tools. Make a poster and keep it in the bathroom. Every time he goes in the toilet give him a sticker and after a couple stickers he gets an M&M. Works great! Good luck!

I was very late with my son, It was his 3rd birthday and I sent him to nursery in underpants with a few spare changes of clothes in his bag, and a couple of nappies just in case…He came home that day with a massive sticker saying ‘I have been dry all day, and asked to go to the toilet whenever I needed’
The reason I didn’t do it earlier, was simply because I worked full time (monday – Friday 9am-6pm) and he spent more time at nursery than he did at home and I just didn’t have a routine for him. Obviously he was more than ready for it as he basically ‘potty’ trained himself – He went straight onto toilets though, as it was so late! 3months later he took himself out of nappies during the night while we were on holiday in Florida, Every night I put him to bed with a nappy on and every morning his nappy was on the floor and there was yellow water in the toilet, He was obviously getting himself up and going to the toilet during the night!!
I felt like an AWFUL mother for basically letting him teach himself, but hey, It worked!! He has never had any accidents – EVER so It can’t have done him any harm!!

im using pull ups with my 2 yr old. it varies with the length of time. mine didn’t seem interested til a few months back. however, one thing i did was intro to the potty. familiarize them with it. he didnt wanna use a normal potty chair to i got one to attach to the big potty. he loves it. you could try clapping (make a huge deal) when he does anything at all and give a sticker.
