The male is peeing because he is not fixed, and he’s marking his territory. The female is peeing after him because the smell is in your carpet. You have to a small crate and keep them in their when your not able to watch them. You are probably going to have to rip your carpets up and get new ones. Once dogs smell the urine they will always keep going in that spot. Try natures miracle for cleaning the carpets. Hope this helps!

uhh i have chinchillas and breed them and there is no real way to potty train them.. why do you have them all over the house? they’er like.. hamsters you don’t have them just everywhere. they can’t be potty trained even if you hold them they don’t have the sense to not poop on you

Since they are so old I would suggest professional help, I know it’s expensive, but i’m sure it will cost less than refurnishing your house! Good luck with that!

OOh, four years old, that’s tough…

You’re going to have to use very strict crate training, I’d imagine. Keep them penned up when they aren’t outside, and take them out often. Praise them when they go outside, and once home, immeidately into the crate! When you can tell they need to go, pull them out and don’t let them stop until you’re outside.

Clean your house thoroughly! If they smell any of their own urine/feces, they WILL associate it with a place to mess. You have to get any scents out of your home, and push the idea to go outside.

At some point, they will give you some kind of response while in their crate that they need to go out. Re-inforce this behavior with praise. Eventually, have their crate open in a sectioned off location in your home near to the way out. watch them like a hawk. The moment you see one of them behaving as if they need to go out, prise them and take them out as quick as possible.

From their slowly increase their area and let them come to understand how good they are when they want to go out. Clean up messes in the house quickly and completely, and hopefully they will eventually be able to live with you as normal pets.

I just saw this on Its the Dog or Me,, they had 5 indoor dogs. First family had to re clean all soiled areas as dogs remark by smell. Then water restricted after 7 at night. and then a hourly timer was put in effect to take them out, it took about a week but was success. *mamatx
