pull-ups that create the cooling sensation may be a good option. pull-ups have gotten too absorbent so the child doesn’t feel uncomfortable enough to want to get out of them. if they soil themselves, leave them in the pull-up, but if they use the toilet immediately reward them with positive praise (but nothing material). take them to the park or paint their nails.

I use Pull Ups brand and they work great. Try to get one that will either get colder or turn colors when they go potty in them. That helps them associate the feeling with a time to go potty.

  3. Ali Says:

we used huggies pullups but we tried to make it a goal everyday never to let him pee in it. you have to take them to the bathroom alot!!

Undies! I know its messier, but none of my kids could tell the difference between pull ups and diapers. Once we went to the underwear, they were more aware of when they went in their pants.

  5. LEDIA Says:

    Both
When you are home and can take the child to the bathroom, underpants
When you go out, pull ups.
    Pull ups at night

They will have accidents. You will stop the pulls up, and have accidents, but in the beginning, both are good for there own reasons

I don’t know from experience, but have close family friends that just finished potty training and they went with pull-ups and they worked very well I think. and then switch them to underwear after that. Just tell them they aren’t suppose to go to the bathroom in the pull-ups and if they listen and use the potty give them a treat :]
    hope that helps

pants. they know when they are wet!
pullups are just fancy nappies and get used the same.

  8. neaster29 Says:

Pull ups, the ones that give the kid a cool feeling or have some other type of alert to let the kid know its time to go to the potty!

  9. FloMoJo Says:

Any of them…I purchased a potty chair when my daughter turned one…she was potty trained 6 months later and only had to use pull ups durning the night for a couple of months. I also let her pick them out…she always chose the cinderella ones…

  10. Emiii Says:

Get the Huggies that make them feel wet. They start to understand what a hassle it is and want to use the toilet. I think now they make them so the image on the front disappears, that way you know when they are wet.

    Best of Luck!

i started with pull up’s first for few days, then he went to underwear on his own.

here is my solution use the cotton undies with the plastic lining on the outside. They look and feel like underwear but if an accident happens their will not be a huge mess everywhere and they really dont absorb that much on the inside your child will feel the wetness etc.. so your children will not want to do their buisness in them.

Do the Pull-Ups until #2 is fully potty train and then underwear.

My 3 yrs old, just fully potty trained but #1 & #2. She had #2 down for awhile now, so #1 was a bit hard. 2-3 days in underwears and 3-4 accidents, she is aware of using the potty before wetting herself.

  14. pebble Says:

Pull-ups are glorified diapers…stick with undies and he’ll be trained in no time. Never took much more than a week with any of mine and they were all trained before two.

Pull ups didn’t work for my son because he knew they were still diapers it wasn’t until I took him to walmart to choose his own “big boy underpants” did he start using the potty on a regular basis.

I have just potty trained our 2 yr old twins by giving them ‘grown up’ knickers and pants with a thin panty liner stuck inside (the highly absorbent small panty liner size ones that ladies use for incontinence) They had at least 4 accidents each day for 2 days despite me asking them every 10 minutes whether they wanted to ‘go’ but after just two days they are now using their potty and toilet! The pads don’t always soak up 100% like pull ups do, but they are better than just underwear as they prevent it soaking through their clothes, socks and shoes! Its so tempting to revert to nappies/ pull ups when you go out. But the good thing about using the pads is that you can keep the continuity – Our daughter wet herself in the supermarket and the pad gave me plenty of time to get to the toilets to change her knickers before any soaked through! Hope this idea helps! Good luck!
