Ive recently adopted an older small dog- shes about 15- and her bathroom habits were aweful. 2 months have passed and she is doing much better EXCEPT she seems to only be willing to poop inside. frequently she will do this shortly after being outside. she will even alert me when she needs to pee- but not for number 2. Anyone have suggestions? I really dont want to return her to the pound-older dogs arent adopted as quickly if at all- but she is ruining my apartment.

as soon as she had her food take her straight away outside.my freinds got a small dog she does the same as yours,she brought them puppy pads down as then she went on them as never went outside she was only 4

when my family got our first puppy, we took 2 giant jingle bells and tied them together. we then put them on the door knob of the door you will take your puppy outside through. it is important you only use one door to take the puppy outside with otherwise you will confuse the puppy. once he/she learns how to go outside, you can use any door. the reason jingle bells on doorknobs works is because every time you open the door to take your puppy outside, the bells jingle. after a month or so, your puppy will learn to jump up and ring the bells to let you know they need to use the bathroom. after a year or so, if you want to, you could take the bells away and your dog will stand by the door and whine or make some kind of noise to let you know they need to go potty. there are 2 downsides:the bells are kind of annoying but you will get used to them, and if your puppy is clever, they will sometimes ring the bells if they want to go outside because of a squirrel, another dog, etc. just remember to make the bells hang low enough on the door so they can reach them and also dont play with your puppy outside until he/she is potty trained. if you do, your puppy will associate outside with play time, and you want him/her to associate it with going to the bathroom. well, good luck!
